Laurent Deleuil baritone

French-Canadian baritone Laurent Deleuil made his debuts at the Opéra National du Rhin with the title role of Britten’s opera Owen Wingrave, during his residency at the Opera Studio. He then moved to Paris in 2013 to join the Opéra Comique Academy, where he sang in children's versions of Lakmé by Léo Delibes and and Ali Baba by Charles Lecoq (roles: Frédérik and Ali Baba), as well as French melodies recitals.

He recently performed the roles of Bobinet in la Vie Parisienne (Opéra de Limoges and Théâtre des Champs Élysées), Papageno in die Zauberflöte with the Labopéra Bretagne and Ned Keene in Britten’s Peter Grimes at the Opéra Grand Avignon. He also sang le Roi de Castille in Sacchini’s Chimène ou le Cid with le Concert de la Loge, the English Clerk in Britten’s Death in Venice (Opéra National du Rhin), the title role in Ambroise Thomas’ Hamlet at the Musica Nigella Festival, Sam in Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti at the Athénée Louis Jouvet theater and Tircis in les Amant Magnifiques with le Concert Spirituel. His last concerts were at Montréal’s Maison Symphonique (Carmina Burana), at the Prinzregententheater in Munich (M. Victor, Ô mon bel inconnu), at the Glanum festival, on tour with les Musiciens du Louvre (Une soirée chez Offenbach), at les Flâneries de Reims festival and with the international tour of the musical theater creation Suite no3 by Pierre-Yves Macé and Joris Lacoste. He regularly collaborates with pianist Nicolas Royez, and their french mélodies album le Travail du Peintre, released in 2020, was critically acclaimed. He also appears on the 2024 recording of Werther, singing the role of Johann, with the Hungarian National Orchestra (Palazetto Bru Zane label).


Laurent Deleuil holds a Masters Degree in opera from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, that he completed after a first Masters in Piano Performance at Université de Montréal. He has received awards in many national and international competitions, including le Prix d'Europe (Montréal, 2010), le Concours international de Marmande (2014), le Concours international de mélodie française de Toulouse (2015) and was named Génération Spedidam artist in 2018 and Jeune ambassadeur Lyrique in 2020. Future engagements include the role of Pang in Turandot at Opéra d’Avignon, Figaro in Il Barbier di Siviglia at Lyricdays in Rennes, as well as the new opera Andrias Scheuchzeri by Porte Renaud at festival Tête à tête in London and David et Jonathas at the Château of Versailles (role: Un guerrier).
