Laurent Deleuil baritone

French-Canadian baritone Laurent Deleuil made his debuts at the Opéra National du Rhin with the title role of Britten’s opera Owen Wingrave, during his residency at the Opera Studio. He then moved to Paris in 2013 to join the Opéra Comique academy, where he covered the roles of Frédéric in Lakmé by Léo Delibes and of Ali Baba in Charle Lecoq’s operetta of the same name.

 

He recentely performed the roles of Bobinet in la Vie Parisienne (Opéra de Tours and Théâtre des Champs Élysées), Ned Keene in Britten’s Peter Grimes at the Opéra Grand Avignon and Johann in Werther (Opéra Nice Côte d’Azur). He also sang the English Clerk in Britten’s Death in Venice (Opéra National du Rhin), the title role in Ambroise Thomas’ Hamlet at the Musica Nigella Festival, Sam in Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti at the Athénée Louis Jouvet theater and Tircis in les Amant Magnifiques with le Concert Spirituel. Other engagements include the Monastier Festival (Fauré Requiem) the Glanum festival, a tour with les Musiciens du Louvre (Une soirée chez Offenbach), les Flâneries de Reims festival and the international tour of the musical theater creation Suite no3 by Pierre-Macé and Joris Lacoste. He regularly collaborates with pianist Nicolas Royez, and their french mélodies album le Travail du Peintre, released in 2020, was critically acclaimed.

 

Laurent Deleuil holds a Masters Degree in opera from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, that he completed after a first Masters in Piano Performance at Université de Montréal. He has received awards in many national and international competitions, including le Prix d'Europe (Montréal, 2010), le Concours international de Marmande (2014), le Concours international de mélodie française de Toulouse (2015) and was named Génération Spedidam artist in 2018 and Jeune ambassadeur Lyrique in 2020. He will sing this season at Opéra Royal de Wallonie (Bobinet, la Vie Parisienne), at the MÜPA in Budapest (Johann, Werther) and touring with le Concert de la Loge, as le Roi in Antonio Sacchini’s Chimène ou le Cid.
